Clients Rights

To be treated with dignity and respect:

  • You have the right to be treated respectfully, without enduring bullying, threats, negative predictions, insults, criticism, or negative judgments from a coach, regardless of their intentions.

To leave coaching when you want:

  • You are in control of deciding when to end coaching, even if a coach recommends otherwise. While legal agreements may impact payment obligations, your decision to continue coaching should align with your own judgment and not solely the coach's financial interests.

To have solutions tailored to your personality, values, and circumstances:

  • You can request personalized action plans and assignments that suit your unique personality, values, and circumstances. It's advisable to collaborate with your coach to create assignments that align with your preferences rather than forcing yourself to complete tasks that feel uncomfortable.

Not to do an assignment:

  • You have the right to refuse any assignment from your coach, even if it's presented as mandatory. Your decisions should be based on what works for you, and you're not obligated to undertake tasks that do not align with your preferences.

To choose your own goals:

  • You have the right to determine your own goals instead of adhering to goals assigned by a coach. Your aspirations and values take precedence over the coach's suggestions.

Not to be given psychological labels or analyses:

  • Coaches should refrain from providing psychological labels or analyses without your explicit request. Psychological evaluations are beyond a coach's qualifications, and it is your right to avoid unnecessary labeling.

Not to be pressured to give testimonials, be a reference, or give referrals:

  • You are not obligated to support your coach's marketing efforts. Requests for testimonials, references, or referrals should be handled according to your comfort level, and you have the right to decline for any reason.

Privacy:

  • You retain the right to privacy, and sharing personal information with a coach should be at your own pace and comfort level. Coaches should respect your boundaries and not pressure you to disclose information prematurely.

Confidentiality:

  • Information shared during coaching sessions should remain confidential unless you explicitly grant permission for disclosure. Coaches may use anonymized examples for illustration or mentoring purposes, but personal details should not be disclosed without your consent. Note that corporate coaching norms may differ, and coaches may report back to employers in certain situations.

Group Privacy

Creating a safe and trusting environment is of utmost importance in our group coaching sessions, and maintaining confidentiality is a key aspect of that. Here are some expectations to ensure confidentiality within our group coaching setting:

  • Establishing Ground Rules: At the beginning of our coaching sessions, we will clearly communicate and establish ground rules regarding confidentiality. Emphasizing the importance of respecting each other's privacy and maintaining confidentiality outside the group is crucial.

  • Building Trust: I aim to foster an atmosphere of trust within the group. Open communication will be encouraged, and participants will be assured that their information will be kept confidential. Trust is essential for everyone to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and experiences.

  • Using Non-Identifying Language: Participants will be encouraged to use non-identifying language when sharing personal experiences or stories. This approach protects individuals' privacy while still allowing them to discuss their challenges and successes openly.

  • Clarifying Limits: I will clearly outline the limits of confidentiality, specifying situations where confidentiality might need to be breached. For instance, if there is a risk of harm to oneself or others, appropriate action w need to be taken.

  • Creating a Safe Space: The coaching space will be emphasized as a safe and supportive environment. Participants will be reminded that the information shared within the group should stay within the group.

  • Using Secure Communication Channels: If we are using online platforms for group coaching, rest assured that the chosen platform will provide a secure and private environment. I will implement password protection and encryption when applicable.

  • Encouraging Mutual Respect: I will work to foster a culture of mutual respect among group members. This includes not sharing or discussing the personal information or stories of others outside of our coaching sessions.

  • Monitoring Group Dynamics: I will pay close attention to the dynamics within the group. If any breaches of confidentiality occur, I will address them promptly and remind participants of the importance of maintaining trust within the group.

  • Regularly Reinforcing Confidentiality: Throughout our coaching process, I will periodically revisit and reinforce the importance of confidentiality. Participants will be reminded that maintaining trust is an ongoing commitment.

  • Addressing Concerns Promptly: If any concerns about confidentiality arise, please express them to me promptly and openly. Addressing concerns promptly is essential to building trust and reinforcing our commitment to confidentiality.

Thank you for your commitment to creating a supportive and confidential space within our group coaching sessions.

Gameplay

Using Therapeutic and Life  Coaching tools within role-playing games (RPGs) involve leveraging the immersive and interactive nature of these games to provide players with a therapeutic and/or coaching experience. This approach is often referred to as "therapeutic role-playing" or "game-based coaching." Here's how these work within the context of role-play games:

  • Character Development and Exploration:

    • Players create and embody characters with traits, backgrounds, and challenges that may parallel their real-life experiences.

    • Through the game, players can explore and understand different aspects of themselves, as well as experiment with new behaviors and attitudes.

  • Narrative Therapy:

    • Game masters or facilitators can structure the game's narrative to include therapeutic elements. This might involve the characters facing challenges that mirror real-life issues.

    • Players can engage in discussions about their characters' choices, emotions, and reactions, leading to insights about their own lives.

  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:

    • RPG scenarios often require players to make decisions, solve problems, and navigate complex situations.

    • Facilitators can guide players in reflecting on their decision-making processes, helping them explore alternative choices and potential consequences.

  • Skill Development:

    • RPGs provide opportunities for character growth and skill development, and this can be paralleled with personal growth.

    • Players may learn to overcome challenges, improve communication, or build resilience through their characters' experiences.

  • Emotional Expression:

    • Characters in RPGs can express a wide range of emotions, allowing players to explore and express their feelings in a safe and controlled environment.

    • Role-playing facilitates emotional expression and can be a tool for understanding and processing emotions.

  • Goal Setting and Achievement:

    • Players set goals for their characters within the game, mirroring the process of setting personal goals in real life.

    • Achieving in-game goals can boost players' confidence and motivation, which can be transferred to their real-world pursuits.

  • Group Dynamics and Social Skills:

    • RPGs often involve teamwork and collaboration. Players can enhance their social skills, communication, and conflict resolution abilities through interactions with other players and non-player characters.

    • The group dynamics within the game may reflect and provide insights into real-life relationships.

  • Reflection and Debriefing:

    • Sessions may include debriefing discussions where players and facilitators reflect on in-game experiences, draw connections to real-life situations, and explore insights gained during the session.

It's important to note that therapeutic role-playing and game-based coaching should be facilitated by professionals who are trained in both the therapeutic or coaching process and the mechanics of role-playing games. This approach can be a creative and engaging way to support personal growth and exploration in a therapeutic context.

Gaming Consent Agreement

Gaming Consent Agreement

Welcome fellow gamers! My primary goal is to create a fun, fair, and safe environment for everyone. Before we embark on our gaming adventures, it's essential to establish some key points about consent:

Player vs. Player (PvP) Encounters:

I may include player vs. player interactions in the game, but rest assured, it will always be within the bounds of reason, non-lethal, and contingent on everyone's consent.

Important Notes on Consent:

  • Your Decision Matters: You have the right to decide what feels safe and comfortable for you. Your consent is crucial, and you can change your mind at any time about what you are or aren't comfortable with during the game.

  • Exiting Uncomfortable Situations: If, at any point, you find yourself in an uncomfortable situation, please let me know. You are free to leave an uncomfortable situation at any time weather it is in game, at the table or in the real world . Your well-being is my main priority.

Communication and Feedback:I value open communication and feedback. If you encounter any issues or have concerns during the game, please don't hesitate to talk to me after the session or message me on Discord. Your insights are invaluable, and I'm committed to improving as a Dungeon Master to ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for you.

By participating in our gaming sessions, you acknowledge and agree to these principles of consent. Our shared commitment to creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment is what makes gaming together great.

Thank you for being part of our gaming adventure!

Game Master,
Erin Higgins
